Favorite Crime (cc: Olivia Rodrigo)

She broke many rules for Him,
And he, broke many hearts for her.
To many he was a nightmare dressed as a daydream,
But to her, he was an angel she would with no one share.

Their journey would begin by one under the broken steeple of a century-old chapel.
By one! By one song, one chant, one word, one prayer;
she would become his favorite parable and 5th gospel.
And he, would capture all her heart's strings and spaces - oh every layer!

She would move mountains for him - Makalu, K2 and the farthest Everest;
and if there were ones atop them, she would have too!
She would swap him for an atrium if she could, her dearest.
In the shadows, before the lights, there was nothing for him she wouldn't do.

And He, oh dared he, all the elements of his realities for her sake!
His poverty, nothingness and all-thingness, he held back none.
He loved her to the points of his own death's wake.
What they shared was surreal; nothing such ever seen under the sun!

He was her heart's warmth, her first song,
and she, his opioid - an addiction to which he would always return.
She would go to wars for him and would fight for however long.
And he, would give her his best years in loving turn.

A love tried by 22 July, by time and by power.
They would see each other in nakedness and not still feel shame.
He lived the definition of the word's worth - a lover.
And she, a Governess of lands, to him a submitting wife became.

But be you surprised, that theirs was a love not meant to be?
For no deed had Aries in the house of Pisces;
or the Families of York and Lancaster, eye-to-eye see!
Yet here were these two, a different breed, defying ancient enmities.

Today they counted Year 40, since they made norm of centuries-old taboos;
and nonsense of their houses' War of the Roses.
Believe you, that it has been 40 years since they said their "I Do's"?
And blew new airs of love and resolve through history's noses?

Under the dimming night, she reflects to him in a mildly hum of Rodrigo's hook:
"All the things I did, just so I can call you mine!"
To which he says, brimming with a tearful smile and a graceful look:
"The things I did, sigh! I hope I was your favorite crime".
